Ketoconazole is an Anti fungal,Anti androgen and Anti Glucocorticoid used to treat a number of fungal infections.
Composition : Each uncoated Tablet contains Ketoconazole IP 200 mg.
Dose : 10 mg/ kg b wt once daily for min of 4-6 weeks or as directed by Veterinarian.
Pharmacodynamics : Ketopet is a potent inhibitor of ergosterol synthesis which is a main membrane lipid of fungi . This makes it difficult for the Plasma membrane to maintain its integrity leading to the fungal cell wall damage.
Indications : Ketoconazole is prescribed for ringworm, fungal ear infections, or skin infections. Veterinarians also prescribe this antifungal to treat more serious infections, such as cryptococcosis, coccidiomycosis (Valley Fever), and blastomycosis. The duration of treatment for these serious, systemic fungal diseases can be quite long, in some cases up to a year. In some animals, suppressive treatment can continue for life. When ketoconazole is used to treat dermatitis due to Malassezia pachydermatisit is generally used with topical anti-mycotic shampoos. Two to four weeks of treatment can be necessary for chronic cases. Ketoconazole can be used to treat adrenal hypercorticism in dogs. In Cushing’s Disease. Ketopet suppresses excessive production of Cortisone hormone.
Directions for Use : Ketopet should be given along with food rich in fatty acids which helps in more absorption.
Side effects : Ketopet is not recommended in Felines. The most-common side effects attributed to this medication include gastrointestinal effects such as vomiting, lack of appetite, and diarrhea. More-severe side effects include increased liver enzyme levels.
Caution : It should be used cautiously in pets with liver disease, low platelet counts, or those that are undergoing stressful events such as serious illness, surgery, or trauma. Ketoconazole should not be used in pregnant pets.
Storage : Store in a cool, dry place at room temperature.

Itraconazole, sometimes abbreviated ITZ, is an antifungal medication used to treat a number of fungal infections. This includes Aspergillosis , Blastomycosis,Coccidiomycosis,Histoplasmosisand Para coccidiosis.
Composition :
Itron 100/200 Tab: Each Tablet contains Itraconazole IP 200 mg.
Itron 20 Oral Suspension : Each ml contains Itraconazole 20 mg in flavoured syrup base.
Dose : In dogs, the usual dose is 5 to 10 mg/kg one to two times per day orally.The dose for cats is 5 to 10 mg/Kg every 12 to 24 hours. It is common for fungal infections to require several weeks of treatment.
Pharmacodynamics : It inhibits the fungal-mediated synthesis of ergosterol, via inhibition of lanosterol 14α-demethylase.
Indications : Itron Tab and Oral Suspension are prescribed by veterinarians to treat fungal infections of the skin, claws, bones, respiratory tract and brain. The most common uses for this drug include cryptococcosis in cats and dermatophyte infections in both cats and dogs.
Directions for Use : Itraconazole should be given along with food containing more Fat which helps in absorption.
Side effects : The Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash, and headache.
Caution : Itraconazole should be used with caution in pets that are pregnant, breeding, or nursing, as its safety has not been established in these cases.
