Pharmacodynamics : The exact mechanism of action of metronidazole has not been fully established. However, it is possible that an intermediate in the reduction of metronidazole which is only made by anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, binds deoxyribonucleic acid and electron-transport proteins of organisms, blocking nucleic acid synthesis.
Indications : Metropet is indicated for the treatment of Dogs and Cats with deep infections including Gastrointestinal, Inflammatory bowel disease ( IBD), Ear infection and Meningitis. It’s very effective for the Clostridium sp and Fusobacterium sp infections. It’s the best drug for treatment of Giardiasis , Amoebiasis, Balantidium coli and Trichomonas sp infections.
